Photocatalytic activity of mixed matrix membranes for degradation of anionic dye

Anionic dye is a notable constituent of textile effluent, which renders water unsafe for human and animal use. Notable approach to mitigate effluent is the use of mixed matrix membranes. In this study, a mixed matrix technique was adopted for the preparation of composite membranes. The composite membranes consist of crumb rubber filled with nanoparticles respectively. The potential of the composites as photocatalyst for degradation of anionic dye in visible irradiation were studied. Photocatalytic activity of composite membrane filled with Ag-Zn-TiO2 nanocomposite showed the highest degradation with apparent rate constant.
